PFA - Domestic Abuse Claims.

Get Serious.
You need to be prepared for court. A temporary PFA Order can haunt you like a criminal record, especially if the temporary PFA becomes permanent following a hearing. Through our busy family law practice, we have represented victims of assault and harassment. Thus, in defending against such claims of domestic or other violence, we know how the courts will probably look at the facts suggesting abuse and/or assault in your case. We prepare each case accordingly. In your case, we will explore all the possible defenses and listen to you to develop the best strategy to prevail on a civil PFA (in the family court system) or a criminal charges of assault, harassment, or disorderly conduct (in the criminal courts).

Our Trial Lawyers.
On the criminal defense side, we handle a broad range of domestic-type criminal cases and we will represent you at all phases of criminal litigation, including preliminary hearings, trial, and sentencing hearings. In each case, we work with the DA to for the best possible agreement to help you. We aggresively seek the least stringent forms of punishment available. For example, we push for drug or anger management counseling in lieu of a long (and restrictive) sentence of probation or prison time. You need a lawyer who knows when to fight hard and when to work cooperatively with the prosecutor.

Easy Payment.
Our retainer is reasonable and we accept major credit card payment. Let us help you with your DUI, misdemeanor charge, felony charge, or other case in Allegheny County (Pittsburgh), Beaver County, or Washington County.

Protection From Abuse (PFA)
Claims for domestic assault (criminal charges) often go hand-in-hand with PFA (protection from abuse) cases, which are partly criminal and partly civil in nature. Each lawyer in our firm can help you negotiate the best possible resolution of your protection from abuse issue. We seek orders and agreements short of of a PFA, such as non-contact orders that do not involve children. A PFA is supposed to be a tool to protect against abuse. Unfortunately, the PFA system is often used a sword rather than a shield that protects from abuse. For example, it is not uncommon for a person to seek a PFA for purpose of advancing one's leverage over custody matters or the exclusive possession of a home.
You should have a lawyer to help ensure that your PFA is defended property because you do not want the order to have consequence that extend for months (or years) beyond the alleged scope of the "threat" yoru conduct produced.

We have offices in, Allegheny County, Beaver County, and Washington County, serving Pittsburgh, McKees Rocks, Ross, Bellevue, Avalon, Sewickely, Shaler, Monroeville, Monongahela, Moon, Fox Chapel, Oakmont, Ross (North Hills), Evans City, McCandless, Brighton Heights, the Monroeville areas.
